Had MOHS surgery this morning on the back of my head for a basal cell carcinoma which isn't the worst by any measure. Bandage and six sutures after waiting an hour for it to be examined under a microscope.
Reason I'm mentioning this is the surgeon looked at me, the location on my head and my baseball type cap. She walked over to my cap, picked it up and pointed to the 'half moon' opening in the back and said be careful, this how you got this. I see it several times a month.
Who knew or who would have thought?
Thank you for the alert. I too just had one removed from upper forehead w/ 9 stitches. My 6th removal. 7th scheduled on the 8th of June. I m a walking PSA on sun exposure hazards. Take care and tight lines

Good info major , thanks for sharing.
3 years ago i had one inside my ear just above the lobe. Doc took a silver dollar size piece of skin off my chest and installed it after digging out the cancer.
Who would think to protect the insides of ones ear?
Me now for sure.

my fishing hat from now on
I've had four Mohs and a melanoma sliced off my shoulder. Major if you were done after an hour you are super lucky. I think my shortest Mohs was over three hours. Depends how deep it is.

Thanks Major, Iโve been through 3 Mohโs and go to my Dermatologist every 6 months to try to stay ahead of the carcinoma. Iโve worked outside my whole life and still do. Iโm doing everything I can to protect myself from Sun exposure. I work in long pants and long sleeve shirts. I wear kayaking gloves to cover my hands and a Simms head and neck gator to protect my face, neck and ears. When I go fishing I wear some 50 SPF tights to cover my legs. I would advise everyone that has light skin pigmentation to do the same along with sunscreen.๐๐

Same thing with me, cut out the cancer inside of my ear then replaced it with a chunk of skin from my hairy chest. Now my ear has more hair growing out of it then I have on top of my head.

The Mohs surgery is my new weight loss program.
I have scars all over my body from the surgeries. Worse surgery was when they had to go in three times to get it all out.
Made for a long day, I just laid on the table while the sent each piece to the lab.
