Hi all. Say a pond has been emptied for whatever reason ,how long does it take for fish to repopulate and then reach maturity. Anyone have a reasonable answer for this question. Thanks. Looking forward to some thoughts.

I doubt there is a "reasonable" answer. Too many variables. Natural repopulation? Planted? Type of fish? Where is the pond located ? fish in the north tend to grow slower than in FL. Food supply?
I am sure I missed other factors .

Charlykilo did a pretty good job. I think location (north vs south), food source quantity/quality. water quality, and size of the pond. The larger the pond the bigger the fish can grow.

See if it even allowed. Understanding this is your pond... may not matter.

Don’t introduce invasive species to your region. If Bass or trout not invasive in the area please look at those fish...

Otherwise proceed with caution and get more input from your regions experts.

Make it a good quality fishing hole!

Best of luck

Check with local natural resource department! City, County or State should have some solid info about lake drawdowns or drainage projects! Restocking pond is what your looking for, right? Let the DNR folks finish project and see if restocking is in the works.

Thanks everyone. I have nothing to do with emptying or repopulating the pond. I just know about 10 years ago it was emptied for whatever reason and now I would like to know thoughts on what might be in there now. Good before.

A drawdown 10 years ago should have helped out by now! Helps little shore line plants and all the fish too.

seems like you should get a line in the water and find out what's there
