Watch Your Step, even if you aren't Watching!

I think my second knee replacement was in December 2016, but that doesn’t matter. I had the operation
and was getting around enough to go back to work. now let me point out that brokers aren’t on any
salary or payment or any kind other than what they earn. And they don’t earn anything if they aren’t
working!

My partner and I were taking a client to lunch at the Petroleum Club in Houston at the Exxon building.
Now the club is on the 33 and 34th floors of this building. As we arrived at the area, I see one car is open and in order to keep the door open for them, I step up and intend to hold it open. But the car is about one inch higher than the floor. I fall, pitch forward hitting my head against wall, and banging my knee on the floor, bleed all over the carpet.

We found out later there had been a traffic cone advising this car was out of order, but the manager had moved it and leaving the place like I just surprisingly found. My partner drove me to the Medical Center for MRI, and treatment for my now burst open knee! I had to go back and have the incision redone, from the inside out!

Since I thought the Club and the Building had been in error in removing the warning cone, I filed suit, which wasn’t too smart. The building belonged to Exxon. I believe they cull the top grads from law schools in the area and then let the law firms have the rest. I was convinced by my lawyer, and the mediator to accept a negotiated settlement which was far lower than what it cost me in lost revenue. But in Texas, I doubt that anyone wins against Exxon lawyers, regardless of the suit.

Anyway, my warning is to always look where you are going and be conscious even when you aren’t looking. Else, let someone else go first, and then watch carefully. My advice is to not tangle with Exxon, even if you are right, it doesn’t make any difference. Exxon is like a mother kangaroo; everyone is in her pocket.

Well that just made me not buy Exxon gas ever again. So, who’s next to quit Exxon. As 1&2 people we start a stand. But as a group or more, we can hit’em where it hurts and not be part of them.

Count me in - other than Exxon is not alone in all they do - it’s just one big happy family with the petroleum moguls. One is no different than the next.

I think my second knee replacement was in December... (show quote)

Thanks for the warning RJ and sorry to hear not only of the trip but of the outcome as well. At least you got something out of them.

You had me at mentioning " car " instead of an elevator. Where did the term of " car " come from? Sounds British.
