And, as I expected, our president made it political . He did good for about 3 minutes, then started the politics. Never waste an opportunity. He had a real chance to try to say things to unite the country , but couldn’t do it.

What's missing is sanity, compassion, and respect for human life. Worse than a beast, k*****g for no reason whatsoever....

There's no explaining the emptiness from the lose of a child, it's a hole straight through your soul that just can't be filled with any amount of prayer or condolences. My daughter left here at 12 from a doctors mistake and it makes no sense. For one individual to take children from their parents makes no sense to me and I'm gonna say it, this guy shouldn't have had a gun. We as a people have to do better and take the guns out of the hands of these animals.

Good morning every one. Prayers for all the kids and their families. in my opinion, this goes back the to giving every child a participation Trophy.they never learned how to deal with disappointment or defeat. In my youth you dusted yourself off and tried again. In all stages of life there is failure an disappointment. I turned 21 and three weeks later my father passed away. I think of him everyday, espeacialy when I'm fishing. I learned many things from him that pass on to others today. Have a happy and safe day.

Chuck I'll say this as respectful as possible, Three are 50 senators who refuse to do anything. 50 people who for political reasons who will allow this to continue without a thought of the people they are affecting, just to get re-elected. I grew up with guns and respected their power to take life. We need some common sense rules to keep guns out of people like these hands but those 50 senators stand in the way of any action. Our gun rights can be protected without allowing nut cases and teenagers to own them. So yea this is a political thing, what side are you on allow it to continue or do something to stop it. Those are the only two sides

I am so angry I can't say anything because I would be sent to the attic. Our society has gone to sh*#! I blame lawmakers, our legal system, politicians, our two party system that v**es black and white with no gray area. Most issues such as guns are mostly gray area to work through. Now if a party doesn't get their way they walk out. What? You are there TO COMPROMISE AND WORK IT OUT, ASS*#%@S. And I blame parents for being too busy with their personal lives to raise their kids, teach them right and wrong, and morals. They think the school should do it. Are we doomed? If anyone else is coming to the attic bring snacks, I'm taking beer.

Agree about the parents. Mostly about a lack of fathers fathering.

should wait and see the facts before makeing laws that would not have helped. I dont know ince i dont live in texas but my understanding it is already against the law for him to own a hand gun and i havent heard how he got the guns. laws often do not stop people intent on breaking laws

We don't know all the facts yet. I do know that some politicians are trying to use this disaster to further their agenda. I have said many times, "I was born before WW2 and have seen huge advances in medicine and science, but society is getting worse". We in this world are DEVOLVING! There is more mental illness. People/our government does not consider mental illness the same as medical illness. They only seem to think about it when a tragedy such as this happens or someone in their family or close to them is involved then they all of sudden get "religion". Being the Father of a PhD clinical Psychologist I know funding for mental illness falls way back at a dark distance behind medical illness, then something like this happens and then everyone especially the politicians ask WHY! I don't recall shootings like this for maybe the first 50 or 60 years of my life and firearms were easier to get! Guess I had better shut up and wait until all the facts come out before I get relegated to the Attic. I am so sad and heart broken for those who lost loved ones.

There are laws in place to prevent many of these terrible shootings like the one in NY. The government dropped the ball and did not prevent this 18 year old from obtaining a gun even though he spent time in a mental health ward. Had they done as the law provides he would have had to get the gun some other way. So the laws are in place I don’t think we need more to further restrict the law abiding citizen.

yes in the 1970-1980 it averaged about 17-20 school shootings each year and ticked up a little in the 1990's the big came in 2018 and on. I suspect part of the reason for the big number jump is what they call a school shooting now which is any time a bullet strikes school property open or closed but even the actual school shootings involving loss of life during school hours has risen, and at the same time access to guns has been more restrictive for those who want to follow the law. I think the big problem is the state of our country everything from decline in traditional morality, traditional family structure, divided nation with the increasing rise in "if you do not agree with me you are not only wrong but you my enemy and need to be destroyed" as seen in our political environment on both sides of the spectrum. There has been a big rise in street crime and lack of prosecution, and of course a big rise in untreated drug addiction and mental illness. All this contributes to the rise in violence across the board. There is no easy one size fits all solution that can be legislated, it will take a societal shift away from the direction we have been on and back to a more traditional morality, family structures, personal responsibility, respect for others, and respect for law and order. Do I think this is going to happen? Not with out some great spiritual revival but such revivals have happened in the past.

Thinking about that shooting last night and this thought popped up. American infantry both Army and Marines, defeated the Germans and the Japanese with rifles not as powerful as what the murderer was able to buy last week.
Do AR 15s belong in civilian hands?
I am a gun owner and once was a licensed h****r.
