Got a chance to fish out of Hopyard Farms yesterday. It was kind of slow...kept 2 blues for supper, released 1 and lost 2 after hookup. Interesting thing...had two swallow circle hooks. Kind of strange...haven't had that happen much. Must have picked up the bait and not turned before gulping it down.

Glad to hear it. You should consider keepin your limit of Blue Cafish when youy catch them. They are invasive and affect other fish populations adversely.
They are damn tasty, too, but it's just my wife and I and she's skittish about eating catfish. I have a recipe that may win her over. I'll let y'all know!
PS when I was retired I had a commercial license to trotline blue cat...but at .25ยข a pound I needed a pile of em to break even!

Tell that despite reports that Catfish have questionable diets, They primarily eat other fish and live things In the lower Rappahannock they supplement their fish diet with Crabs, and Crayfish as well as other aquatic critters. They grow very large in the Rappahannock and James rivers but I always thought thst smaller ones taste better.
Yup. I don't keep em much over 5 lbs if that
