Every morning, almost like clockwork, the sheriff of Waco, Jack Wilson would make his way to his favorite café, climb upon a bar stool at the counter and order his coffee and breakfast.
On this particular morning as he was reading his newspaper and minding his own business, a lady, a local resident, came in and as she walked by, noticed his .357 nickel plated Colt revolver, which was sticking out at an angle from the holster on Jack’s hip. Now Mrs. Abernathy was never one to ‘let sleeping dog lie’ and asked Jack in a hectoring, schoolteacher’s voice, “Jack Wilson, what are you afraid of, carrying that big old pistol around?”
Now Jack knew her, both having grown up in Waco. He then half turns around and said, “Mary Jane, I ain’t afraid of nothing, but if I was afraid of something, I would have brought my shotgun!” Sometimes you have to tell it like it is! Just Sayin…RJS
Good one Robert!
I always like the response a Texas Ranger was reported to give when a woman asked why he felt it was necessary to carry a .45?
“We’ll Ma’am, it’s because they don’t make a .46!”
Most Texas rangers carry 45 ACP it has enough knock down for most drug abusing criminals
