Lake Minatare in Nebraska has big CatFish. Locals recommend Shrimp but Night crawlers threaded on hook wrapped with Chicken Livers caught them. Near where the spillway fills the lake

Well, I cannot speak for Kansas catfish. But Texas cats will eat about anything they can get in their mouth.
However, the big catfish prefer live fish. We switched to perch the size of your hand and those worked the very best. Just Sayin...RJS
