Looking for a budget surf fishing rod and spinning reel combo. Around 10ft. Does anyone have any suggestions.

wherever you go to buy it, I recommend a longer stiffer pole. 15ft. is good. you might need it to get bait/lure far enough into the water to where the fish patrol, and then keep line taught while pole is anchored. dont think open face vs. bait caster reel makes that much difference, but open face less likely to birds nest on casting.

You can check Bass Pro or Cabela's for some good budget surf fishing rods and reels. I bought and 11foot King Kat rod and reel saltwater combo for $49.99 and I bought a Penn reel Pursuit IV 6000 model for $48.99 off Amazon and a 12 foot Berkeley rod online from Walmart for $39.99. Check the different site's to say money, you don't need to purchase the most expensive rods or reels to surf fish regardless of what these experienced anglers say.

Get a good quality Sand Spike too. Really helpful if your going to bait fish.

Yes. Sand spike is mandatory. Ones that screw into the sand are best IMHO.

If you want to save money you can go to either Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a 2 or 3 foot PVC pipe for $3-5 instead of paying $8-17 from Walmart, Amazon, or Bass pro shop. The less expensive one work just as good. It's about getting the same results for less money

You definitely can make your own and save some money. PVC, Rebar and a couple of hose clamps. Got to YouTube.

That's right, there's nothing like making your own equipment.

2” white plastic pipe 30 inch long cut a sharp angle on the sand end . heat the other end over a gas grill or us small
Propane torch heat till soft and force over wine bottle to flair out end ,gets rid of rough edge.

I would suggest you go on Amazon and purchase the Penn pursuit lll, 5000 or 6000 series for about $65-70, and you can also get a good surfing rod to match your reel, I bought a 12 & 15 ft Offshore Power plus from Bass pro shop for $30. They are very good low budget rods.
