For all you North Kakalakians, I suggest your doing as we do in Texas with gators: catch & release.

Why would anyone be surprised? All young alligators must find a new home, as the old dominant gators will either eject or kill the young ones trying to take over any spot already claimed. Just Sayin...RJS

I thought they were freshwater only.

Yep, after i saw a gator in the cove behind my house 3 years ago. Never put foot in it again.

Hoping to fish there again this July and note to self, don't put hands in the water either when netting.

For those who think gators and crocks are only fresh water. You need to read about our combat vets who fought in New Caldonia. The wounded were frequently eaten by gators or crocks in the jungles during the war. Just Sayin...RJS

Yep. The Japanese were especially victimized by gators.

Alligators are freshwater species. In North Carolina, they can be found in Merchants Millpond and other swampy locations farther south.

That is interesting BF, but all I can say is: I believe Alicia Davis from NC Wildlife needs her Head examined. I don’t believe that for one minute, and her statement’s might someone killed. But that’s just my opinion.

Not sure what the fishing regs say about it in NC, but if it's not required, why catch and release? I've eaten gator and it was good! Nice catch!

Well, I guess I am 'old school!' I have always lived by a simple rule, "kill or be killed!" Rattlesnakes, copperheads, water moccissans, and alligators are deadly enemies, which I would kill on site, as they would me if given the chance. Just Sayin...RJS

I respectfully disagree with you Robert. God would not wish us to kill everything which we fear or do not understand.

Jim Kay: Well, God never gave me those instructions. I was always taught to protect my family from harm. Poisonous snakes are a ever present danger of death and I will not tolerate their presence. When God wants me to
refrain from extermination of Rattlesnakes, Copperheads, and Water Moccissans, I will be glad to do so. I believe you are putting words in the Creator's mouth! Just Sayin...RJS

I am not trying to pontificate. I believe that all creatures are put here for a reason which can at times be outside of our understanding. Everyone has the right to protect themselves if they are in danger. I am just saying that when they pose no immediate danger, we should just give them a wide berth. If a dangerous animal is in my yard or house I would have to be prepared to protect everyone here but not if they are in their own environment, not so much. I do respect your position on the matter so perhaps we can agree to disagree.
