After fighting black flies while spreading Mulch at the NH cabin, it was time for a break. Invited my neighbor for a couple of hours on the pond late afternoon. Sooo glad I did. In 2 hours we managed to catch and release 18 fish. Mostly slime darts, but a few lmb, and 1 nice blue gills. I caught a dozen on a 1/8th Oz marabou jig, his were on a shad swim bait. Can't wait for the water to warm up.

Nice catching Fireguy. Your ponds should warm up quicker than big lakes, especially with the warm up that's coming next week. Thanks for the picture.

Slime darts = Pickerel
Fight hard, slice line like butter, and slimey.

Well, Fire, water's warm enuff for that guy to be in full spawning colors. Or maybe,, that's determined by the daylight duration ? Don't really know, just one more fish question to research sometime. There is a guy on the Stage who sez he is a biologist, but his posts here have not been helpful with these issues.
But I agree, spring is coming so s l o w l y to New England this year, and we're gonna pay for it later when the air temps shoot up to even up the score. Was it 2 years ago when we had that blisteringly hot June ? (I'm @ the age now when the years blend together.) But I anticipate something like that is just ahead.
18 fish in 2 hours ! That's nothing to sneeze at.

Yeah, pretty bony, but around my location, where they live in waters stocked with 9 - 11 inch trout, they get so fat that there's plenty of meat for consumption. Those stockers plump 'em right up once those pics get big enough to swallow them. Get bellies close to that of a LM.

Yes, bony, for the most part. But read on a post recently that the larger ones can be deboned easily, and they are tasty. I'll pass!

Nuts, I'm at the age that I go with the flow weather wise, there's always something to keep me busy.
As far as those fat picks you mentioned, no trout in our little pond, but plenty of perch and pan fish. I guess it takes a lot more energy to feed on those compared to the stockers.
