Can you use leaders at end of line to simplify changing jigs for crappie? Does this cause problems attracting fish? Thanks

Back home in Texas when fishing crappies in thick cattails and potato vines I used short heavy leader's with a #2 Crappie hook with a tiny bobber straight between small clearing spots to reach spawning crappies. Because I need to jerk fish straight up out of the veggietation. Crappie don't really care they just attack your minnows or jigs. You just don't want the multiple hook leader's in those tight situations. Open water's off the boat or pier fishing is fine. Ok Read your question again, just stick a small assortment of jigs in a plastic bag in your pocket and fingernail clippers or use a small swivel clip to change the business end. Fish aren't that smart or old hillbillies like us couldn't catch them.
Thanks Passingbye!! Much appreciated!!
In Oregon, they passed a law that you can't have a leader longer than 3' while fishing with a bobber for salmon. Something to do with snagging fish. It's not the leader length that helps a person snag though. Anyway, I started putting my salmon jigs on a leader and put a swivel on the end so I could change them or put a new one on if one got broken off. I haven't had any trouble catching fish with a 3' leader and sometimes less.
Thanks! No salmon in central Illinois. Appreciate your thought. Will try. 😊🐳
