How should I fish live sunfish (minnow) for large mouth bass
As far as I know using sunnies for bait is illegal in many states.
Not in Florida if they are caught with hook and line then they may be used for bait you can not net sunfish or other fresh water game fish you may net shad and shiners for bait

May be difficult to catch bass because channel cats love em.
They are legally used for bait in most states like Virginia and West Virginia.
Just check your local regs.
For bass I use a float and hook them just behind the dorsal fin .
Just be sure you use a large enough hook to have an exposed point.
Probably a 6/0 or larger, depends on the size of the bait.
Catfish definitely like that set up too.
I have always used them by hooking them behind the dorsal fin. Also can put the hook through the nose. Weight about 1 ft. above the hook with a float 2 to 5 ft above that.
