Just a FYI. Just got back from the Wolf river and the Stripers and Walleye are slow. Different opinions out there Some locals said the Walleye run is over and some differ the same with stripers. My guess is anywhere in the next ten days the fishing will b on fire

My buddy in New London (the guy with the Pete and Joe updates around ice-out) just sent me a pic of the Sturgeon spawning next to his pier, but I don’t know how that timing is related to the walleyes? As for the White Bass (Stripers?) that was typically closer to Memorial Day. My old Italian friends would say they will run when the lilacs are blooming…then again, they drank a lot of wine and sang to the fish, too 😉
I will ask for some fresh intel on the fishing.

My buddy just told me there have not been many boats or fishing pressure at all yet.

I saw some Sturgeon close to shore spawning and that was really neat to see. I was told there are watchers by the fish all night to discourage poaching them. That's a good idea since the fish are so vulnerable

That’s true that the White Bass typically are actively spawning that the same time that the Lilacs are blooming. Crappie too!
And this is also about 3-4 weeks later than our Walleye, which do to the extremely cold spring this year was really inconsistent. All in all Mother Nature knows what she is doing though.

PS the white bass are a distant relative of the Striper

We are heading up for a week on May 14. We go up each year and they are usually hitting around Mother’s Day. But Mother’s Day is early this year.

Cold spring this year. Hoping to hit them when they are active. We always have a great time fish or no fish
