I’ve been keeping my head down and in a little funk lately, so I called in sick yesterday and went for some fishing therapy. They were hitting hard at every cast; it was crazy! I didn’t catch any bigguns, but I got 68…yes, that’s right, 68! of these little gems, all around .75 to 1.5 lb. I was almost embarrassed to say how many because it was just ridiculous to me. A fist time experience, for sure. Best therapy ever, at a beautiful, quiet spot - just me, the herons, beaver, osprey, snapping turtles and plenty of bass. Can’t wait to take my grandson there. 😁

For all you saw it would have been a wonderful day of nature if you had caught no fish. Thanks for sharing

I saw two snapping turtles mating in the water…that was a first, too. At first I thought they were fighting. Then I realized they were just in the honeymoon stage, lol.
68 ? And still didn't catch anything for a decent dinner ?
Now that's what I refer to as classic "Rationalized Wildlife Harassment".
...... but hey....at least you got blessed by one less day of work and able to be out in nature, huh ?
I suppose I should be "impressed", but, sorry, just can't embrace that "sporting philosophy", never could.
I'm a "catch dinner, for sure, hopefully catch 'a limit', but then when THAT is accomplished, just sit back and enjoy my surroundings before heading home for the second part of "Hook and COOK".
And if you stayed in basically the same spot, you likely did not catch 68 DIFFERENT fish, more likely.....the same dozen or so, at best, that just kept "getting fooled" over and over.....LMB are not exactly the 'geniuses' of the fish world.
Once a buddy and I suspected that very scenario, so we marked our catches by using a hole-punch he had in his truck, to punch the tails..... caught one decent 3-4lb'r EIGHT TIMES !!
Would NOT even consider doing so to a fish these days, but hey, we were 15yrs old at the time.....still kinda stupid, ourselves !

WOW! And here I was worried about you because we haven't heard anything since the blizzard. Come to find out, you've been practicing your "Here Fishy Fishy " call. Congratulations Betts, I don't think I've ever caught 68 of any fish in one day. Not even Snapper Blues, back in the day. Well thank you for sharing your day with us.

Wow, FoF. I’m not trying to “impress” anyone. I had a fantastic day after many not-so-good days and this seemed like the best place to share my happiness. Feels like a shadow just fell over it.
