Speaking of Ronnie

Hey Everyone,

I got a chance to visit with Ronnie twice last week.
First visit was on Monday 4/18. We had planned to go out for some lunch and just get to know one another.

I got out to his place right on schedule and Ronnie was Ready to Go! I had a chance to say hello to Clara but we didn't stick around and talk that much. She asked me to be careful with him and make sure he doesn't fall. When we got into the car I asked Ronnie, "Are you going to fall?" He said No! HA HA. I got the impression he was ready to get out of the house.

I mentioned I was sorry about Dora. I could see by looking at his face that he was holding back. He just quietly said, "I really do miss her."

Last week Ronnie was off his Chemo meds and his mind appeared to be a sharp as ever. He didn't miss a beat. Both Ronnie and I are between the ages of 60 and 80, and he has me by 15 years. For his age I thought he was doing quite well.

The restaurant wasn't all that good IMHO but the conversation was great. Of course, Ronnie is Australian and being as such, he used a lot of words that I was not used to. At one point I told him that he reminded of a British girl I use to date. She was always saying things that I had no idea what she meant. We use to laugh a lot explaining ourselves. Ronnie then mentioned that Dora was also an English girl. What a surprise! We laughed at the thought of our many conversations with them.

We didn't talk to much about Fishing on Monday but we made plans to get together again later in the week. Blackdog got into some bad water on Tuesday and it wasn't until Friday that I could leave him on his own. Ronnie and I met up again on Friday 4/22. Again he was waiting on he porch for me when I arrived.

He started another round of Chemo that Thursday and on Friday he was doing pretty good for the most part. At one point in the drive back to Round Rock I had to quickly pull into a Circle K convenience store for him. He spent about 15 minutes in the Loo before he returned. I was chuckling a little bit as he said, "Well that's never happened before." I could tell the Chemo treatments are hard on him, as one might expect.

We headed over to Loews to pick up some tools for a plumbing job he needed to do. He said he talked to Plumbob earlier in the week and so he knew what to get. We were in and out of there in about 15 minutes. Ronnie got everything he needed. I brought him by the house to meet Blackdog and then we headed out to some fishing spots. We didn't get a chance to wet a line on this trip but I imagine it won't be long before we do.

Well let me wrap this up before it gets too long here. Ronnie misses and appreciates all of his friends on the stage. He enjoys talking with you and the emails. He appears to be doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. He didn't have any specific information on whether or not the treatments were helping. He said his job was to keep a positive attitude about it all and get better as soon as he can.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to all of you, it has just been a busy week.

Troyford let us know if you choose a date and time for all of us to think about Ronnie and say a prayer or two for him. I liked that idea.
Flyguy thanks for all of your help talking with Ronnie and you too Plumbob.
Thanks to all of you.
Ronnie definitely appreciates it.

Blackdog and Tocino, You 2 are the perfect example of what Good people are.

Going out of your way to help another in anyway you can. Many of us send our get well wishes mainly because we are not in the proximity of our fishing friends location and say we wish we could do more. You two certainly get a tip of the hat for going that extra mile.

Thank You both for being who you are.
