Who cares what kind it is, it's a nice, nice fish, look at her smile. Did she take it off the hook, Monk?

My initial look sez : huge Arkansas Shiner, but Ive also seen chubs like this in streams around me. I considered using them ( chubs ) for baits elsewhere, but decided against introducing them where they might upset the ecological balance. Would check with D E E P ( our equivalent of DFW ) first anyway. Lots of temptation though, Big bass would go nutz when they saw one of these coming along for lunch.
Have caught a bunch of these chubs while drifting trout worms in small streams and creeks for trout in east / central Connecticut and west / central Connecticut, but never in North or near the Sound. Seems odd, and I have no explanation.
On the other hand, Golden shiners exist broadly distributed across the entire State, although I've never seen them in moving water, but in lots of ponds. I'm going to try to get a Game Warden to discuss this with me. They have seen it all. I wish they would inspect my catch, gear, bait bucket, and license more often, I enjoy talking to them. Sometimes go for two years without seeing one, and when I'm healthy and fishing to capacity, I fish well over 100 days per year. But,I have observed them glassing me from a distance, guess I don't raise their hackles.Nothing for me to fear, it's a positive experience for me.
Back to the point : another respondee suggested possibly GD's catch might be a Golden Shiner, and I respectfully disagree. Not even close, as far as I can tell. Some kinda Shad ? Maybe, but need a Fisheries biologist to really decide for us ( hint hint ).
Update: Sorry Bucky, I just took another look and spotted the orange coloration on the fins, and believe you correct in your call. A thousand pardons ( here's where I bow deeply ).
Jumped the gun again, but my answer to that point may be helpful to anglers in my locality.

Looks like a chub to me. The ones I catch in NJ are called creek chubs by DFS and have very little color in their fins.

Now I'm totally confused, but never saw chubs with those colored fins here in CT.
I better sit back, shut up, and learn.
