Back fishing after a long time

Hi all, I'm Mike from upstate SC. I always enjoyed fishing but it has been a while. I used to mow lawns and return bottles to pay for a row boat, it cost a dollar a day so you can see it's been a while. I recently bought myself a boat and realized it's not as easy to row as it used to be lol. I've been reading a lot of the posts here for a while and am interested in anything you can tell me about the fishing here in the upstate. I still use a cheap rod and reel and mostly fish with worms. My daughter and her husband and my granddaughter are my favorite fishing companions. Hope to post some good pics as time goes on. Thank you for all the info I've gotten so far and I appreciate anything you can tell me about this area.

Mredmond: Welcome to the Fishing Forum. You have come to the right place since there are more than 60,000 members. That means there is a lot of experience, wisdom and yes, even a ration of B.S.

There are quite a number in South Carolina. Hang on and there should be some of those members who will respond.

You might consider getting an electric troll motor. That way you don't have the difficulty of rowing,or paddling your boat. Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome to the Stage Mike. Someone from your area should be along. You don't need expensive gear to catch fish, especially bait fishing. If you start getting into artificials, you may want to upgrade. Moderate priced equipment makes repetitive casting more comfortable and effective. Smoother reels, better drags, and higher gear ratios are a few of the advantages, along with lighter, more sensitive rods. That will come with time. Good luck, and most of all, have fun.

Glad ya decided to resume fishing. You could slap in a battery and mount a trolling motor for some propulsion assistance. Stuff tends to change a bit as time passes , Huh ?

When I bought the boat the seller didn't have a title for it so I'm waiting for the state to work it out. I can't run a motor until I can get it registered. I'm working on that now. It did come with a small electric motor and I can't wait to try it. Thank you for taking the time to reply
