First post here...Homerdog, er Mike, from Tulsa. hello. Does anyone have experience with blue Cats out of Venice, La. Leaving Venice is a long boat ride out to the Gulf, passing many fresh to brackish inlets, oxbows, whatever off the Miss.R. I heard mile 14 is the ticket for monster blues, plus eighties!!! Wondering if anyone has been there, done that? Would like to hear about it and plan a trip if possible. Screamin drags!
Have caught cats, bass, flounder, reds and specs in the same location about this time of the year around what’s known as the wagon wheel. The big cats are in the River a little north of there when the water temperatures are in the 50’s. Not saying you can’t catch them now but times a wastin. There are videos of big blues being caught down there online. As the River level continues to drop, the saltwater from the gulf moves upriver on the bottom. As it does it displaces the freshwater fish farther north upriver. Some as mentioned above can handle the brackish water a little better than others. Good luck. Hope you catch a big one.
