I visited the Torqueedo website this morning....wow....was I off the mark ! Only the equivalent of 1hp & 3hp are less than $5k. For a bass boat or such, the electric equivalent of a 25-40hp(supposedly the equivalent power of a 50-100hp gas-powered motors ?!?) STARTING price is $25k++, with 'extra batteries ' going for nearly DOUBLE THAT !!
Had to stop reading the site further, much like the reaction that I have when I pause from looking at "how cool looking" a Bugatti or Ferrari is, and look at the price.

Unless, of course, I win the lottery big-time. Then it's state-of-the-art bass boats, fast beautiful cars and jaw-dropping residences for everyone close to me !
Root for my chances, if you care to.... might make you "closer to me".... hehehe !

Hey Fix, there are several other companies in the electric outboard business. Check out Stealth outboards, and Elco who not only makes outboards, but also makes Inboard powerplants for repowering larger 20,30,40,and 50 foot long powerboats.
There are also numerous Chinese companies making 3-10 hp ones. Just check Amazon or E Bay.

Tohatsu makes a propane motor, but anybody that believes that we are ready for electric cars, needs the electricity go out during a storm, and the flood is coming. So how do you leave..........in a casket.

My gas lasted 24 hours stuck on i95 in Va in 16 degree weather. The idea of a quiet electric outboard intrigued me but they’re definitely not ready for prime time.

Well Fredfish, those suggestions sent me down an all-evening-long "rabbit hole", exploring electric outboard motors.
I'm kinda vacillating between thanking you and cursing you !.....LoL !
The various manufacturers' offerings, battery variables (including proprietary vs. widely available generics, type, and longevity issues), pricing of course, YouTube videos and chit-chat on positives/negatives/necessity for/praise and scoffs.....lots of info and facts/opinions to be had and studied.
When I get through processing all this, maybe I will post a thread concerning the subject....or not ??.... the opinions of electric vehicles expressed on this forum kinda portends the can of worms I might be opening.... we'll see.

No thank you, I really don't like electric shock treatments.

There's an idea that is definitely grounded. Kinda shocking in fact. The picture says it all.

Hawaii did the 'windmill' thing. They put up 70 units at a cost of millions and millions of dollars per. They believed the hype, and thru money at it. With only for one small island it can only produce enough for only 5% of the need. The media just yesterday, was stating that more people are turning to the electric car as prices are going up for gasoline. They fail to mention, how long the car batteries will last, and forget the 'go green' garbage. Anybody believes that need to learn how we get electricity, and where does it come from, and at what cost.
