Well I got to the lake about 8:40(roadwork) and it was about 67Β° with just a light breeze. Surprisingly the water temp @the ramp was 55Β° in the shade. Went to my usual starting spot,a cove at the north end of the lake, but found nothing swimming. Worked my way south on the sunny, west shoreline and picked up a 1pounder. Worked the entire west side without another bite. When I got to the south end I missed a couple bites in the shallows along the reeds. Worked my way around to the southeast shore and got wacked good. Whatever it was ran into some blowdowns, and broke me off. Took the leader and shreaded the Nanofil, so there might be some metal underwater near the tree. After retieing a new leader, I worked my way into the cove at the dam. No worm bites,so I grabbed the ultralight with the little crappie jig on it. No crappie or perch bites on it around the trees, but did get the little 3/4 lber on it. Worked the dam and along the south side of the cove with the worm rod, and got SLAMMED! After 3 jumps she settled down and came to the net, 2.5lbs . Made my day! Worked my way back to the ramp without another bite. Water temperature at the dam was 57Β°, and in the shallows 58Β°. All in all a successful Shakedown run.
No action on topwater, shallow jointed crankbait, or a swimjig with a Keitech Fat Impact. The first and last fish hit a Green Pumpkin Swimming Dinger rigged weightless TR, and the middle fish hit the 1/16 oz ball jig with a chartreuse/clear curly tailed minnow. The one that broke off hit a 5"June Bug Dinger, weightless TR.

Thanks Henry, the boat ran great, all systems functioning properly. I didn't get to run it fast because theres an 8mph speed limit till the weekend after Labor day, but the Merc fired right up and ran perfect.

Awesome Fred. your smile holding that fish said it all. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‘

No, I didn't bring it Grizz. There's no steep rocky banks in this little lake. There's also no Smallmouth there, as far as I know. I'll wait till I go to Zoar to try it. There's a couple good rock banks, and lots of Smallies.

Thanks Andy, It was a nice day. We usually have plenty of water, at least till the end of the summer. Then it's only the COE controlled lakes that get low. On the water is definitely better than on the couch!

Fred: That's a good day at the B to get ya started, I've had good days there and some ( a bunch ) when I got sprayed. In my younger days, way back when, I also got lucky at Rover's a few times. I wasn't too particular, that was the key. Any activity @ Black Pond on your way by ? For some reason, BP has been good to me over the years. Don't fish it much for the last few years, got good fishing nearer home, and don't care much for traveling any more. I'm still not able to do boating, steep banks, or most wading, but got some nice carp outta the Quinny behind the old Hartford Courant building on 68, just before Yalesville. C&R , so no eating issues. Too old to have secret spots any more, so I'll be passing 'em along now as time goes on. Can't take them with me where we're all going to end up !
I know y'all like pix, but I don't do that, so I guess my "reports" will have to be stories.
This year is like a victory tour for you, so make the most of it. Couldn't help but notice since I've been in the Stage, you don't seem to have any secrets either. Is Bantam Lake in the near future ? While we're in the B's .... Bashan ? (not easy to launch there though as you know), but great fishing there in my region. Maxx
