I just purchased an older 19 ft center console. Looking for good launching point to do some near shore (1 or 2 miles out) off NC shore.
Tmazzu: Congratulations! In my opinion, you should have a second 'kicker' as a backup to get you home if the main motor fails. If you don't have that, either radio or perhaps a cell phone, assuming the phone coverage will reach out that far there.
Also, welcome to Fishing Forum. We have over 60,000 members, so there is a lot of experience, wisdom, and yes, even a ration of B.S. Be sure to post any pictures of your catch. Would even be nice to see a shot of your rig. Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome to the site T, former NC resident myself, where in NC are you looking to launch from?
Welcome to the stage, and remember. The person that buys a boat has two great days, the day he buys the boat, and the day he sells it. What makes it worth it, is all the days in between, have fun.

They call it a ‘boat’ from what happens all the time “ B O A T = Break Out Another Thousand”

I lived due north of you in Belhaven. Just googled Moorehead boat launch and quite a few places came up. Try that or a local bait shop for info.

Harris T: That is only true for some. However for others, including me, there have been great experiences which were absolutely memorable, not to be compared to any other experience, when I was with my rig.
Once during the month of May, I had guests fishing every weekend. I had a good time, but most of my time was helping my guests, bait up, land fish, getting them back in the water and such. Therefore I had little time of my own to enjoy catching anything myself.. Now I have to say I enjoyed helping my guests. Finally, on the last weekend, there was no one to take fishing, but I was determined to go and enjoy the solitude and fish alone. It was a grand experience. If I wanted to take time and change my fishing setup, I could, and if I chose to motor over to another spot even leaving where I was catching fish, I could. So, you see have a solo trip with my boat was making great memories. I have never had a big problem of either buying or selling my boats. Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome to boating in NC. Morehead City Boat Ramp and Beaufort Wildlife Ramp are OK, both get crowded, especially on the weekends, get there early! Atlas Tanker good bottom fishing, Spanish, Blues and AJs trolling good from light house all the way to Hilton Inn. Spot and Croker near shore and intercoastal waterway, Trout and Drum inshore. Morehead has some of the best salt water fishing within easy reach of the 19 footer and without having to burn tons of fuel. Tight lines!
Welcome Tgar: You have come to the right place. Fishing Forum has over 60,000 members. That means a lot of experience, wisdom, and yes a ration of B.S.
Thanks for the tips about fishing in your area. Just Sayin..RJS
