I went to a place I have access to today because the wind was gusting over 40. I took my cast net and bait bucket and caught 6 finger mullet and startedbank fishing while keeping an eye out for snakes. I started fishing with no luck in the first hour so I moved about 1/4 mile and started fishing against the wind where water exchanges during tidal movement. I had lost two baits to mortally so I was down to 4 baits. I hooked on a bait and cast it out and the wind wouldn’t let it go very far but that was ok because within 20 seconds I was hooked up to my first red and brought it to the bank. I put the fish on a stringer and put another bait on and hooked into another fish but somehow the fish came loose so I grabbed another mullet and cast it out and caught the second fish. Now I was down to the last bait so I hooked it up and cast again in the same area and another redfish ran off with my last bait. So no limit but a great afternoon on the water and I feel very blessed.
El Rod: Good job, and why didn't you try using the dead finger mullet? Those work too, at least in Louisiana. Great pictures. Just Sayin...RJS

Those are some Nice reds El, congrats and tha is for the pics
Cause I still had live until there was no more. I could have caught more finger mullet and continued fishing but the Astros were on and I didn’t want to miss it.
Good reason! Since I am not an Astros fan, I would not have thought of that. Just Sayin...RJS

And 3-1 record. Not bad at all.
And Verlander lost the game he pitched. So your right, not a bad way to start the season on the road.

Nothing wrong with two nice reds like that, a good day, El Rod.
Thank you Sir,
I appreciate your response. When I do have a good day, and it was, all the way around I feel like sharing it. The good times outweigh the bad by far.
Nice fish El Rod. I’ve never experienced them on the end of a line or on the table but have heard their exceptional on both accounts.

Nice Reds El Rod! Glad you got some before the game anyway. Thanks for the picture!
They are a fun fish to catch. We have a very good Redfish fishery in our area. They don’t have a kill off during a hard freeze like the Speckled Trout so I don’t have an issue taking fish home to eat. If you ever catch one you can fillet it and fry it or try my favorite which is to fillet the fish but leave the skin and scales on and grill it. I cut some slits crossways in the fish and fill with butter then add some Mexican or Cajun spuces and grill it for about 30 minutes depending on your heat source. Just don’t over cook it. When it’s ready just start scooping the fish out of its shell. Try to eat around the blood line. You might also try this with other saltwater fish. It’s easy Peary.
