Greg,
The bass should be in shallow, warmer waters, feeding on small bait fish. Most minnow imitations should work. But fishing has been up and down this spring πŸ™„
Good luck!

Here in California I have been using Senko 's and Ned rigs and the prevention very slow 🐌
And also split shot with 6 inch worms πŸͺ±, and the split shot only 15" up the line.
Good luck
Andy

Greg, I've caught countless bass with shiners in waters that have no shiners in residence. Figure it's easy for bass to see 'em, they swim, and so they must be food. My favorite shiner tip: clip off about 1/3 off of one fin. Makes 'em swim oddly, mimicking a natural injury, and makes them more attractive to preying fish. Have fished them both ways and it works. Probably craws in your lake, river, or pond choice, they seem to be most everywhere in Southern New England. Artificial craws have really improved in recent years, and scents are available. SM bass , in particular scarf up right up.
Not really eastern, but Congamong is a nice bass spot, and how far can ya be from any place in Massachusetts? Good Luck.

Or anything that creats a reaction strike Like noisy top waters Buzzbaits ,poppers, jitterbugs fast moving baits and this time of year small slow moving baits and it can change day to day or during the day. Good Luck Catching and share pictures! check out On The Water Magazine they give the best run down of what's happening in Massachusetts. Someone last week hooked up with a 8+ pounder. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
