Spring is funny, and not ha-ha funny either. Yesterday (Wednesday) I was driving on the freeway from Brownsville to Harlingen, Texas, on the way to a doctor's appointment at 3 PM. The trucks outside thermometer read 108 degrees. I was in the doctor's office for maybe 15 minutes. When I came out there was a wicked wind coming out of the north and the temperature had dropped to 98. By the time I got back to Brownsville it was 89. This morning (Thursday) it was 63. Now its up to 72, but the wind is ripping. I checked the ten day forecast and the temps are decent enough but there are no days in the next week and a half when the wind will be under 20 MPH.
Last week I stopped by Bass Pro Shop to pick up 6 quarts of 4 stroke engine oil and the oil and fuel filters needed for a 100 hour maintenance on my Mercury engine. The charge was a little over $110. I also had the guys at the marina do a detail job on the "Hooker", top and bottom, replace some cleats that were getting dingy and give her a good going over. Another hundred. I've decided to re-do the aft casting deck with Sea-Dek so I'm going to run over there today and set about making a template for that area. I think I can do it with one roll so it will only run about $80 for the Sea-Dek plus contact cement, etc. Of course that will make the console look rather dated so I better figure on another roll to do that and the areas on the forward deck around the trolling motor and the live well.
I think I've figured out what to do with my time when I can't go fishing. Maybe I can get a job as a door greeter at WalMart, at least I could get a discount on fishing and boat stuff.

I'll get this done for less than a thousand - not much less, but a little. And I love this boat better than my left leg, so that's a good thing.

Brother ain't it the truth!
Winds are hammering in the daylight hours all of next week.
First outta the North and then out of the South.
No problem if you're catfishin' at night.
Checking on some spots today and Blackdog, aka Kodi, bolted for the water. Even he knows its to windy for fishin'
Like you, I don't guess I mind. Spring Storms need to come on through and then we can get serious.
I've added a new fish to my Bucket list. The Texas Mean Mouth!
These bad boys are a hybrid bass that get big and fight hard.
I'll do a topic on them soon but for those interested look them up online.
They are not just in Texas.
Tight Lines guys (and Gals)

All good things have a price Kandy, unfortunately our favorites have a HIGH price. Luckily they're worth it.

Yeah, really wish I could afford to slip my sailboat. Would get out much more often.

I really miss my old Luhrs 28'. Kept it in a slip near the mouth of the Hammonasset River. Just get out of the car, get on the boat, and head out. We also spent every weekend, and vacation day on her, for 16yrs. It was a blast. How big is your Sailboat? Can you sleep on her?
You know the old saying.
