About a year and a half ago, my friend Bear watched his girlfriend of 10 years die from a massive stroke and was forced to move for financial reasons. It was a very tough time for him.

I wanted to take him on a guided fishing trip and asked if FS members would generously fund a four hour outing. Many of you responded. For various reasons the trip was put off. Now it looks like we will finally go on May 2 with the guide.

It will keep you updated on our results but I just wanted to say thank you again. The response humbled and surprised me. Hopefully, health or weather issues won't get in our way this time.

Greg

It's our pleasure Greg, hoping you guys catch your limits, and release a bunch more!
What's the target species, or is it wide open?

Smalljaw are my personal favorites, and we catch Crappie (Calico bass up here) all year round. Pretty much anywhere theres wood in the water, blowdowns, flooded timber, or just branches in the water. Also people's homemade habitat using brushpiles or old Christmas trees.
You guys are gonna have a blast!

This guide gets a report the night before we go on which dam on whatever river they will open the next day. That determines where we go. Apparently, the fish show up where they let the water flow. We have plenty of questions for him that day.

Will you be fishing out of a boat, or from shore?

Out of his boat. I'm hoping he can show us some spots from shore wherever we go. I can't afford a boat right now.
