I have been looking for some indication of steelhead fishing activity in Michigan rivers. The only one I ever caught was in February. I would like to hear from other people foolish enough to do it.

Good luck. Out here the ‘average’ time to catch 1 Steelie (per the Division of Fish and Wildlife) is 40 hours.
I have watched many videos on YouTube about steelhead fishing in Michigan. You might get an idea of where and when to fish from YouTube. There are also videos of guys fishing from the bank for steelhead in the lake. The winter-run here in Oregon goes from Dec. through Feb. There is also a spring, and summer run on some rivers here.
There is plenty of rivers to fish Steelhead, the Grand River, White River, Pere Marquette, St. Joseph River all these rivers produce fish and there all on the Lake Michigan side of the state. The only river on the east side of the state that I know of is the Rifle River.
Mark:. I'm a West sider. The White is my favorite, mostly because I grew up with it. I have camped at the Rifle, and fished there, once. Had one brown to show for my efforts. I have fished Whitney Drain a few times, and caught a few small catfish. I read about fishing the mouth, many years ago, and have given it some thought. Building projects are rapidly eating up the spring.
.
Lawrence: I have fished the White down by the Boy Scout Camp about 3 miles west of Hesperia and always had good luck there scouting the river from the high banks then work my way down where the action was. Lots of good Walleye action this time of year but you have to let go what you catch because season is closed. Going to miss fishing this year because of a bad foot.
Daddy: I have not fished the Bestie though I know many of people that have from the central part of Michigan and they all have had good luck catching Steelhead fishing with flies.
