I got a text from my Nephew Tim (Devin’s Dad) saying that Devin’s Grandpa wanted to take him turkey hunting this season. The problem was trying to find the required non-toxic shot to bag the bird. .410 turkey loads proved to be a challenge to find…
Tim had been looking online and in stores in CA and was coming up empty. I got the distress text and started searching all around my area. I tried and could not find any within 100 miles. I was told that it hadn’t been available for months in all the stores I checked. I tried to find it online and could only find some at outrageous prices…from $6 to $15 per shell…plus shipping!
I let my Son Brady know what we were trying to find for his Cousin…that kid is like a dog on a bone. He has a way to search through different avenues I don’t even understand. “I got a guy from Sparks, NV who has some for Devin” was the call I got. Sure enough, Brady found a guy who understood the problem, was willing to help Devin bag his first bird and was excited about helping out. Brady put Tim in touch with the guy and Tim setup an appointment to meet the guy after Tim got off work. It all came together in about a day. The gentleman was so excited to help Devin get his bird, he gave Tim the box of shells at no charge! It just proves there are amazing people out there!
We told Tim he has to send a picture of Devin and his bird to the man in Sparks who helped put the finishing touches on the hunt.
Sorry for the long read, but I had to share how it all came together with a little bit of teamwork. 😉
That’s a cool story OJ and one good-hearted guy.

Yet another “Good News” story. Good people are everywhere they just don’t get any publicity know a days! That’s great how it all worked out and I bet the guy who gave your nephew the shells will be elated when he gets the photo. THANKS FOR SHARING POSITIVITY!!
To be honest, I was in the process of creating a post to the Stage, about to ask for suggestions as to where I could source some for him at a reasonable price? I know there are many who would have been willing to help. Sorry, I even consider $6 per shell to be obscene when they were about $2 a trigger pull a year ago.
I feel sorry for anyone taking up fishing, golfing or hunting nowadays as the startup costs are outrageous!

It is hanging from the lamp in my Home Office…where I stare at it and smile (every few minutes).
