They live in Elk Grove, but I will ask as he was with his other Grandpa.
Ah, ya. El Dorado’s about 40 miles due east of Elk Grove in the Sierra foothills…

They were South of El Dorado in the foothills near Sutter Creek.

Yeah, pass through that area going to my daughters. Same terrain. Brush and scrub oaks. And you see a lot of turkeys. Sometimes they’re right in my daughters yard. They’ve got 5 acres and see a lot of wildlife…🐟on

Congratulations on bagging a beautiful mature gobbler. Great memories and a nice fan and beard mount coming up I’ll bet.
I took two of my grandsons and one of their friends out for the youth hunt this weekend. No kills, but close encounters both days under really tough, windy conditions.
This morning two Toms snuck in behind our setup and didn’t gobble until they were right on top of us. No chance to reposition, and too much brush to shoot through. They passed 15 yards from us and stopped several times to gobble. The just wouldn’t come out to investigate the hen decoys.
I told the boys, that’s typical Turkey hunting. They are unpredictable in their behavior and will show up silently, and unexpectedly sometimes.
Overall it was a great weekend. Lots of great memories. They now think grandpa is the Turkey whisperer!
We’ll get-‘em next time!
