Biddydi: The first step I would take, besides what you've done by asking everyone on Fishing Forum, is Google your state's Game and Fish Commission. Usually they are quite good at having current information about the lakes and streams of their state.

Next, I would visit the neatest bait stands to where you plan to fish. Those folks are close to the action and will know a lot about the action. Finally, if you have time, spend it at a nearby boat ramp when fishermen are coming back in. They might be willing to tell you about their luck, what is working, etc. Just Sayin...RJS
