If I paint (oil or other medium) from Photo published in Gallery , does any copyright law apply? Is it required to include who had taken original photo!?
Thank you,
Ramesh

Not that I know anything, but if you’re not selling your paintings no harm. Selling might be a problem though without permission.

Just change it somewhat call it your own I would think but then again Andy Warhol being sued because he painted from an original photo don't really know have to go with What Koda said if your not selling it.should be ok 🇺🇸😀👍

I don't know the law on this but I think if the gallery photo had a patent number you could not lawfully take a picture and paint it for profit.
If no number appears on the photo you should be able to do anything you want. At least I would do it.

My wife is an artist and photographer. She said she would be angry if someone copied her work. She also said it’s illegal unless you have written permission from the artist/photographer.
Good luck with that.

I wouldn't say so since it is not exactly like original, but I don't know anything about the law. Hope someone on here can give the law definition.
