Welcome to the Forum, mkpdp, It would depend on your target fish. Different fish require different technics. What would you like to catch? Google fishing guides in Damariscotta, ME, to see what shows up or call a local bait shop. good luck.

i'd like to catch bass or trout, would fish for whichever is more likely. will follow your advice. there's shop nearby.
