Caption below is compliments of OJ and oh so fitting after reading some post last week about some panhandlers on the corners.
They kind of make one sad, guilty and played all at the same time when you see that cigarette dangling and help wanted sign off in the distance.
Then you hear about folks that quit their job and not wanting to go back to work because they want to find themselves in the world.
Sure some folks are down on their luck, Well go flip a burger.
And for those finding themselves and can’t see themselves because the mirror wasn’t paid for. You are There, “ Flat Broke “.
There's no excuse for not having job if you need one now. Everybody is looking for help.
Comes the time when you’ve got to grow a “set” and step up to the plate. Unfortunately, too many have probably seen their parents work the system and have had no values instilled upon them. Very sad indeed.
There's no excuse for not having job if you need one now. Everybody is looking for help. If what you want is to find yourself, you can find yourself hungry.
All so true. I see disable veteran signs but in reality if you are a disabled veteran you get a check. There’s a guy here who drives a brand new catty parks his car at the grocery store walk across the bridge eat breakfast at Hardee’s then get on the bridge with a sign disable veteran collect money but is a retired SGM (E-9) plus SS so sad
Dang..... I think you boys need some warm springtime weather in a hurry. Whatever happened to gratitude and being nice to the less fortunate.

Gmon Plum. Most know my stand on this subject. If you're not in a place it's going on you don't see how they transform. Some do it for drug money. For others it's their occupation. Now they are holding custom made signs set up chairs n umbrellas. The ones that iratae me the most are the ones that have the dogs with them. Laying on the ground with all the traffic driving by them all day. One couple sits at entrance to Sam's club. They take turns sitting in a wheelchair. I've seen both walk at least 100yrds to Wendys or McDonald's then come back n switch while the other goes some where. They also have a small dog. One's that are trying to make the best of it by working but require a hand up not a hand out. That's who deserves help. Everyone has their own opinions about this. I have mine. 👍

There is less fortunate and there are those that take advantage of the those that aren't less fortunate.
Problem is the slackers have ruin it for those that are in need and distinguishing the difference is difficult. Point in fact is Troys post.

I'm all for being grateful and helping the less fortunate but doesn't God "help those that help themselves?" If you talk to the people that work with the homeless every day, they say the following - most homeless people want money for drugs or alcohol (not all, most), they don't want to follow any societal rules or laws, many have mental health issues they refuse to take meds for or get counseling. If you want to hand people with a sign money, go for it. It's your money.

Dogs or little kids with them are the ones playing with our emotions. Like i said difficult to tell the difference between the needy and the slackers.
Growing up in the church with minister parents, uncles, grandparents...helping those in need was instilled. Living in NYC for 15 years I learned to see, for the most part, most of the homeless were mentally ill or addicts. I would offer food when coming out of the store but never money. Some took the food , some didn't.
If you’re on the same corner at the same time every day...that’s probably your job. No benefits or taxes just a personal choice. I think they take the NH motto literally “live free or die”.

I have the same thoughts as you expressed.
Plum some here are beginning their 3rd year at the same place. One couple is living in a hotel. I noticed come winter out don't see them. One day coming back from the kids I saw the guy walk out of the hotel restaurant n go in a room. Weather warmed n there was him his woman n the old dog on the exit ramp. I could understand if not jobs was available. How far can you drive before you see help wanted signs. Instead of helping people like that help a vet a senior citizen or a single mom that's busting her butt to raise her child.
