I finally got up the gumption to go out fishing, went to the Blue Creek launch on the Cowlitz with about 100 others, fished from the bank using a spinning and baitcasting reel, a float and a large red bead. No luck but everything worked, even my leaky hip boots. Did not fall in but was very careful, never got over my knees in the water (senior balance problem). Thoroughly enjoyed the effort, talked to another oldie who did know what he was doing, had one steelhead on the bank and said he missed two others. Guide boats were making lots of noise running up and down the river, apparently were doing pretty well according to spectators at the launch. It was a very good day, even missed the Fort Lewis traffic.
