RHaynes: Well, you have come to the right place. Fishing Forum has more than 60,000 members and that means a lot of experience, wisdom, and yes a ration of B.S.
I would suggest as a start you Google your state's Game and Fish Commission reports of the local waters. There should be a lot of fishermen/women in your area who will come along and answer questions.
Also, you might do some recon of local bait stands in the areas you are thinking about fishing. Those folks will have their fingers on the pulse there. Oh! Be sure to post pictures of your catch. Just Sayin...RJS
