Hi, Fred ! So ! Retirement is finally
here, huh ? GO FOR IT ! Get out there and 'Fish yo' ass off' any and every chance you get ! Best thing I found about being retired is the relief from stress caused by work schedules/
environment/deadlines/schmucks
on the job ! Took early retirement
at 62 (on disability) back in 2012 -
just passed the 10-year mark - the 'peace of mind' is such a welcome relief from all those years of daily stress !

Remember, Fred - try to get your
'Honey-dos' done during crappy weather so's you're free to fish
on the nicer days, and don't let
them bog you down when it's
time to 'wet a line' ! Congratulations, buddy ! Enjoy your retirement - you've earned it !

Sure is nice when you get up in the morning and all you have to worry about is the weather. Good luck Fred and just relax and enjoy yourself

Thanks Big, that's pretty much the plan for the first several months anyway. The "Honey do "list is mostly deciding what to keep /sell /scrap /give away /donate. We've accumulated a lot of Stuff over the years, and were gonna be downsizing when we head south, so we need to thin the herd.
Being able to fish on the nice days, is so much better than being stuck with wh**ever weather you get on your days off. I'll still fish with my buddies from work , which will include some weekend days, but when the perfect day is in the middle of the week, I'll be on the water!

Thanks Slim, I'm gonna give it my best shot. That would be nirvana, especially if we get a nice summer.

'Snowbird' or new Southern resident ?
No, wait ! I believe you may have mentioned moving to a warmer climate upon retiring a short time
ago (I think I need a Gibbs-type head slap to jog my memory nowadays),
so was it North or South Carolina ?
Either way - tight lines, buddy ! Enjoy !

SC, buddy. Your memory still works. Probably next winter, or early spring.

It only works lately when and if
I give myself the head slap !
Long-term memory is fine, but
short-term ? Not so much ! Need
a good back-of-the-head smack
to re-align the gears occasionally !

Fred, it seems like a lot of people do a big remodel on the old homestead after they retire. I did that with my kitchen. But you're taking it a step farther - moving to a whole 'nother house!

If I didn't live so far away, I'd be keeping an eye out for your yard sale!

Yeah Barney, I'm probably not gonna do any major sprucing up of my little house before I sell it. Most buyers want to decorate everything their own way anyway. I'm not gonna waste the time or money. The house is solid, roof is only 5or6 yrs old, furnace /boiler is only 2yrs old. There are a lot of buyers around looking to buy, as is, for decent prices.
We're going to put a couple mobile homes on a piece of property down south, with a couple we're good friends with. Probably throw up a steel multibay garage for the toys, and have a little compound.
As far as sales go, I'm gonna try and connect with some "package "type buyers and try and move groups of things, rather than individual items.

Hey Fred— so retirement is here already? That went fast!….for me anyway. 😁
We just had to clean out my mother in laws house. Sold some. Habitat for Humanity came and took a lot away. They have a store in Fairfield called Restore. Check with them if you have any good items you can’t get rid of. Or as you mentioned bundle it for a reseller. Have fun!!
