Does anyone fish little grass valley lake? Taking my boat this summer and never fished there. Any tips on gear or types of fish would be awesome. Thanks
I used to fish up there quite a bit but it's been a few years. Trout. Might be sm in there, I never fished for em.
Probably similar to the rest of the small lalkes in the area
Antelope
Davis
Frenchmans
Gold
Ya wasn't sure if it's a stocked lake or wild, and what do they stock it with. I've seen it frozen over about 20 years ago, so I didn't know if it does every year, and what affect it has on the fish.
Davis has nice trout up to 8 pounds and antelope reservoir is always good for the hatchery plants.
LaPorte used to get tons of snow in the winter and Little GV got snowed in. Or snowed out depending on how you'd look at it. They stopped plowing the road in LaPorte and the lake is just a tad north east of where they stopped. You weren't gonna get there unless you had a snow mobile. We're talking 7 or 8 feet of snow on the road. Now that was back when we used to get snow and rain. Haven't been up there in a while and I don't pay attention to LaPorte's weather report. All the ice and snow has zero effect on the trout. Go and get you some. It's stocked with trout, and I'm sure there are plenty of holdovers and probably wild natives as well.
I know of hidden little gem of a lake up that way that's rarely fished. Nothing but wild fish in it, it's never stocked. And it's even fairly easy access. Anybody interested in going up there, PM me, let me know. I'll share. I've told several members on here about it over the past couple years, and nobody has ever gotten back to me and told me if they made it there or if they caught any fish or not. It's a beautiful little lake and well worth the trip even if you don't catch any.
You can have it all to yourself.
