Saw a report yesterday about a young mans unfortunate encounter with a wild turkey. Boy was on interstate 70 westbound going through Washington county MD section. Speed limit 70 next thing he knew he had a turkey in his face. He suffered multiple lacerations to his face n a serious eye injury. He was airlifted to John's Hopkins eye trama center. No report of it turning into a serious pile up. 70 mph is usually the car that everyone is passing on I-70. Whats the biggest thing to hit your windshield 😵. I've been lucky nothing bigger than a small bird

An owl, no damage, but it scared the crap out of me. It was at night and I didn't see it coming. Just a bang and it was there.
A pheasant. It sure makes a terrific bang when it hits!

Nothing bi bigger than a bug or a small rock friend took a pheasant in the face
Hit a pigeon one time in my work van. Scared the crap out of me but didn’t break anything. A guy I worked with hit a grouse one morning on the way to work. I walked around the front to look at the damage and there it was, stuck in the grill. I reached out to pull it out and it took off. Had to change my shorts that morning
My brother in law was on the highway. Someone dropped a big rock off a bridge. It went thru his windshield, luckily on the passenger side.
When I was in the field doing service repairs I drove a big ford van 🚐 and covered a lot of California during the 6 years of service I managed to hit a few birds 🐦 1 goose 1 Turkey 🦃 1 pigeon and 3 sparrows
The pigeon was the only one who did damage it hit and broke my drivers side mirror
When I was young and going fishing with my father he hit a pheasant and it came right through the windshield that was scary 😦
Was one of the unfortunate drivers that encountered a deer that decided to commit suicide. Was doing about 50 enroute to pick up our teen daughter from work one Sunday evening. Rt. 1, near Glen Mills, Pa. was 2 lanes each way with a low divider in middle. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye a deer leaped over the divider. I hit the Doe which landed on the hood and rolled off onto the side of the road. There was $3,500 in damage to the hood and front end, but luckily I did not get hurt. The deer was obviously seriously hurt as it lay on the shoulder of the road. I called the State Troopers and gave them the location (Old Lobster Pot Restaurant area). After confirming no personal injuries and car drivable, the Trooper asked if it was impeding traffic. I advised the Trooper it was badly hurt lying on the shoulder, at which point he said since it was not affecting traffic, they would remove it the next day. How this deer never hit my windshield still amazes me today. I picked up our daughter and relayed what had happened.
The following day our daughter went to school. When she got home she said you won't believe what happened. One of her teachers was late in coming to work-----because a dead deer was laying across his driveway near the entry to Rt 1, which happened to be close to the restaurant. No-one wanted to initially believe this "I was late for work story" until our daughter confirmed the bizarre coincidence.
The only other scary encounter occurred when I was down in South Carolina helping someone on a Blueberry Farm for the week. After leaving to go home on a 2 lane back road, up ahead I saw a big Tom Turkey near the left side of the road. In the past, my experiences have been they will just run off. Not today! This 747 decided to take flight across the road and all I could see was this huge bird headed for my car. I hit the brake hard and by doing so, drove the front end low enough so that the turkey hit the upper left part of the roof and luckily avoided the windshield. The impact however, left a large crack in the glass. Since that day I do not assume the Gobblers will only run.
