South Padre Island Spring Break 2022

Spring break is well underway.
Every year, during March, thousands of students arrive at S Padre Island from all over the country. It's said that the local economy makes a significant % of annual sales revenue during this time. This year it's expected to gross about
$ 35M to $ 40M.
If you're a fisherman, however, the crowds can cause delays getting to your favorite fishing spots. The scenery along the way is not so bad. Looking at some of those hard bodies can be very pleasing to the eye. Of course, I'm just looking, as I slowly make my way North and put my tongue back in my mouth!

I'm attaching a couple of screen shots. One is of a daily beach party, with live music, that can draw as many as 5000 people (could be a COVID super spreader event. We'll have to wait and see).
The other is a public park, Isla Blanca and the jetties, located on the Southern part of the island. The locals usually hang out there.
After Spring Break, Holy Week (Semana Santa), starts bringing in a new group from Mexico as students slowly disappear.
It's an exciting time of the year and of course good for the local economy. Personally, I like it when the crowds leave and we return to a more tranquil and laid back time!

Excellent photos, and it brought back many memories. If I were still living in the Valley, I would remain at home, and recommend anyone else do the same. Wait until the craziness subsides. Just Sayin...RJS

Clayton's and the Park are at their best, I missed them this year.

If you go fishing early, the S Breakers will be plenty hung over, some with their heads still in the toilet! They start to warm up around 11: 00 AM or 12:00 PM, get a bite to eat and do it over again. The ones that got lucky the night before will be doing the same thing!
Remember those days?

Definitely Clayton during the day, after six PM it's almost empty and the party moves over to Louie's Back yard!
The word's out on you, some of those nymphs were waiting for a ride on your new pontoon boat.

I was once one of those spring breakers. Barely remember being there but I know I had a TON of fun!!! Now a days I avoid stuff like that like the plague. Though I still wouldn’t mind a look at the scenery.👀👀😜
