Welcome Darlene, check local regs... I've never came across a lake that kayaks weren't allowed.
Noticed an increase in them the past few years, so get out there and catch a bunch

I believe all waters are open to yakers in MA. My yak days are over, but especially enjoyed fishing some of the river, places the shore fishermen can't get to.
