I walked into my machine shed this afternoon and was shocked to find a crime scene. A masked bandit had ripped one latch off of my tackle box, opened the other and there was a quarter of the contents in a 3 foot circle! 😳 🤬🤬🤬 There were bluegill hooks, snells, jigs and lures everywhere. He had eaten the soft plastics off the jigs, eaten the floats from a walleye snell, and pulled out and consumed most of my plastics including 4 musky 7" paddle tails. Probably 6 packages of worms and twister tails.

Chewed up my favorite jitterbug and Rapala and ate several bobbers. Even Chewed on bullet weights. Oddest thing was there were 2 crank baits inside the fish basket sitting next to the box. How he got that accomplished I have no idea.

I can only hope he got a hook or 4 attached to him. I've kept that tackle box in this shed for years and never had a problem. Maybe too many scented plastics?

Anyway, it's a good thing that I got a new tackle box for Christmas, I'm just glad I procrastinated filling it. 😄

I’m sorry to hear that my brother. But there is a bit of humor in it too. Be sure to let us know when you see that critter. He’ll probably have pierced ears.
Super lucky you got a new tackle box.

That sucks Farmer, but a good excuse to buy some new Stuff. You may be correct about the scented plastics. It might be a good idea to keep them inside the house, maybe in a plastic tub or something. Keep and eye out for the Rocky with all the piercings.LOL.

Sir, strictly by conjecture or guessing, but what do you suppose did this dastardly act? Was it a raccoon, or larger animal? Just Sayin...RJS

Farmer, I think you should help out that masked bandit. Like maybe piercing his ears with a well placed shot. Sorry to hear about your gear and hope you can replace all of it. I’ve got some lures that belonged to my dad,but I keep that stuff separate and safe. Some of those are irreplaceable

Yep, it was a ring tailed masked raccoon. He left tracks to prove it.

Only sentimental thing I keep in my tackle box is a weight my great uncle cast. Never thought to look for it, hope it's still there.

What has been chewing on the hind leg of the other one.
