Huntm22 Loc: Northern Utah. - West Haven
 
4 of us headed to Salmon Idaho for Steelhead fishing. We caught 21 in 2 1/2 days. Some wild that had to be released and some hatchery fish. We released all under 24”. We kept a 30”, 28”, 27” and a 26” - all bucks. Also a half dozen White fish to smoke. We had a newby 1st timer and he caught his first Steelie and it was the biggest 30 incher! He was one happy camper. Biologist and Game Warden said very few were being caught. Only 13 had reached the hatchery about 30 miles upriver from where we were. Goes to show - right place - right time!!

Nice going. We’re still catching quite a few down here in Riggins. Lots of wild one and some decent sized ones. All the hatchery fish are smaller. Maybe there’s more headed your way soon👍

Way to go, Hunt. Those Steelies are a lot of fun to catch. Boy, those rocks look like they would be tough to navigate.Especially while fighting a fish…🐟on

It looks like you had a great time with good friends. It was more than a successful fishing trip. You guys will have the memory of that trip forever. I hope that you are able to repeat the experience many times over in the future.
