Just bought a previously owned Stella on eBay. Sight unseen. It's a 2004 2500. Very reliable seller according to eBay's ratings. Located in Japan. 180 bucks, probably sold brand new for around 600 or so. I've always wondered what all the hoopla was about, but I would never shuck out over 700 dollars for a reel. Not for the kind of fishing I do. I'll be sure to let you all know what I think of it when I get it. I might have to buy a new rod to hold it, but I'm first gonna see how it looks and feels on my wife's Avid Pearl. What do y'all think? Think I'm a fool?

We’ll Spirit, you will have to tell us if it is worth it to you. Seems like a good deal on paper.
As a sidebar, We watched Ford vs Ferrari last night and there was a stuffed armadillo in Carroll Shelby’s office in the movie…had to laugh considering your recent post 😂

You are a very smart man, Spirit. I bought a Stella 2500 about that time when they first came out, and I paid $750.00 for it at Cabella's. I have used it sinse then, and it works like new. I know you wouldn't buy mine for for $180.00. I haven't used it in salt, and wouldn't think of it. I hope that if it was used in salt they took care of it. Japan?

I think that is a great deal. Shimano makes some great reels. I can’t wait to read your review.
Tight Lines.

There were some pics and it looked to be in really nice condition. Fingers crossed. I don't usually buy stuff on eBay, but I have and I have never had a bad experience.

I have bought quite a few reels off eBay and they have been good. The problem buying reels off eBay is that most of them have been stolen, MHO. They will see a nice outfit, follow you home, and steal it out of your truck or garage, and sell it on eBay.

Have heard that Stella’s are top of the line reels but much too expensive for my tastes, but then again for $180 bucks may last you another lifetime. Keep us informed Spirit.

Not at all. A $600.00 reel for $180.00 is a great way to try one.

Don’t think you will lose on shimano, I’ve got several , no issues. Never been burned on eBay either. Good luck.
