I'm from South Jersey, Mays Landing. I usually like to fish for stripper, flounder, and I like to crab. I have never caught a stripper that I was able to keep. I always catch shorts. I fish at Jeffers Landing and I heard that Hay Rd., on the Mullica River is a good spot. I have never fished Hay Road yet, but will probably do that this year. Has anyone had any luck yet this year or do you think it is still too early?

Welcome to the Stage Debz, now that you've heard the stripper jokes, check the NJ/DE issue of The Fishermen magazine. Also check out the tackle shops in the area you fish, they should have the latest info. Good luck, and Tight Lines .
Don't forget,we love pictures!

I haven't heard any reports from Graveling Point or Tuckerto yet but I know they are trying. If nothing else you'll find some white perch.

Hope this helps…

“Higbee’s Bait and Tackle in Fortescue posted the first video evidence of bunker in the area last week as a school of menhaden was seen up against one of the local bulkheads. On the striper front, they reported this weekend that smaller stripers and perch are hitting along the shore – no keeper bass to speak of just yet anyway. “Mostly all perch in the Fortescue area will be caught from the surf,” they noted over the weekend with bloodworm the bait of choice. They said the first reported keeper from Fortescue Beach in 2021 was March 12, so the time has come. “It’s still early water in the low 40s but someone has to get the first one,” they noted.”

Welcome to the stage. When your fish are running small, Try deeper water, faster water, or maybe a different or larger lure. Many times, the larger fish are below the main school.
