Fishing season’s over

For me anyways. Had surgery to reconstruct the joint next to my wrist in my left thumb. Doctor says it’s three month to heal. I figured if I did it now I can fish some in the summer. I’ll probably have to have the right thumb done as well. Stinking arthritis. If I have it done in September I should be ready for ice fishing season. Had a blast ice fishing this year, going to miss the ice off and spring fishing, but should be good to go for the summer.

Dang stuco that looks painful, I have pain in the same area of my right thumb/wrist hope it don't come to surgery but I have arthritis bad in both hands and meds don't help but doc says they keep it from getting worse. I hope shes right

So far it hasn’t been to bad. Had it done Friday morning. The worst part is being one handed for the foreseeable future. It was getting to where I couldn’t do a lot of things with my thumbs. I would’ve had it done sooner but I could still tie knots and fish.

I'm left handed and broke my left wrist bone once and with my left arm in a cast I was almost helpless, some things were almost impossible to learn to do right handed lol

I’m in the same boat, both hands, especially my thumbs. You can still fish with a cane pole, right

That is the shi1s, sorry to hear and see that. I do know a couple of guys who have lost their arms and they fish. I have never fished with them, so, I don't know how it works, but I built a custom rod for one of them. He used to play softball when he was younger.

Stuco, hope for a speedy recovery, you take care and get back on the water as soon as you can. And remember it’s a sport second to none. Richard Gene says” Go fishing when you can cause it’s good fer ya.”

I have arthritis in the exact same place in both wrists. Makes throwing my big surf sticks a painful challenge. I know what it's like having a wrist problem broke a bone in my wrist in a motorcycle accident, six months in a cast.

Sorry to see that Stuco. The problem is, if you want to fish year round, there's no "Perfect" time to be laid up. Hopefully you heal quickly, and maybe wait till fall to have the other one done. Get well soon buddy, we'll be waiting for the pictures.
