Got a letter from the IRS the other day that said they didn't receive my tax forms for last year and I needed to send them in, so I resent them. funny they didn't get my forms but they did cash the check that was stapled to them. huh

I would have called first to check if this was a legitimate request. I don’t trust many due to all the scammers out there. I hope you come out okay!

oh, the wife called and ask a lot of questions and after about 45 minute wait, they said they did get the check and didn't get the form. She told them the check was stapled to the check. they said that was a different department. Guess the got one department that just pulls the check and cashes it. I heard like the next couple days the IRS was hiring, maybe they'll get some competent people.

Ivey, you would think that since they know they got the check, They would look for the forms. Just plain laziness. Easier to have you resend it.

Might have the answer for you Ivey. My accountant files the forms electronically to the IRS, and gives me a small form to file with the check. Maybe you mailed yours before the accountant did.

No,I do my own taxes and I don't E-File or least wise not in the past, I may start after this. I think it's more the IRS employees lost my forms between departments. Probably pulled the check and trashed the forms.

Good luck, Ivey. Sorry for the headache. One year my accountant [who e-files] called me back an hour after leaving his office and says "The IRS won't let me file your taxes because someone else has already filed with your SS#" That same year my identity was stolen, they attempted to withdraw all funds from accounts, horrific.
I now have a private pin # they send every year in the mail that I must use before filing.
