Hi,
Just wondering when's the best time to start fishing in Fortescue, NJ? It is still quite cold here in Jersey, but some days are nice and get around 50 - 60. Mostly asking for my sons but would love to catch a striper off shore, myself. Thanks.

I’ve seen stripers in the Delaware starting the end of March. They’re up near Trenton (big ones) definitely by the mid/end of April.
Usually the Susquehanna Flats are popping by mid March but we can’t even catch/release there anymore…

They’re catching stripers there now . Season opened March 1st. Also white perch and winter founder. Striper season will close in the Delaware river on April 1st till sometime in May not exactly sure on that date also I believe that closed season is only upstream from a specific point in the river. Need to check that.

I believe that stripers season in the Delaware river is open March 1st but closes again April 1 at and above the Salem river mouth to the Calhoun street bridge in Trenton. The season reopens again in that area on June 1st until December 31. This is due to the striped bass spawning up in freshwater. Very important not to disturb them at that time.
