Found the cedar log thats gonna become the post's for the bed I'm building,cool part is it came from the neighbors property two hundred feet from my friends property where I got the logs I used for the side and end boards,will cut the log into four 4 foot pcs and just strip the bark off em so they stay as natural as possible,I did run the boards through my planer but leaving the live edge on em.

Down here they make the post 8'. You can unscrew the top 4 foot if you want the shorter post, or have the 8 footer with 4 inch fennels on top of each post. You can then hang drapes or mosquito nets as drape. You hang A short skirt bed fringe on the top as a canopy bed.

So each post is three pieces. (2) 4' with a screw centered in between. and a 4" pin base fennel on top.
The lower post has vertical veins. The upper post has woodland or some animals carve into them. all stained.

Just trying to be helpful with some ideas.

Appreciate the input but I'm aiming for a simple Rustic look,and as far as skirts are concerned if the skirt comes with a nice pair of pillows I'm a happy camper

Exactly Shady:I have a picture in my head,and its already changed, was gonna do side boards as logs,leaving the round sides,decided I want to see the wood grain so ran through the planer,now I'm deciding if I want to add small round pickets and a round upper rail to the head and foot boards,keep the mix of machined and natural going.I do the same with my clients when I build things,give them options before completing a project( flexibility)
