Starting to see some variety in what’s in the intercoastal around Blackburn Point. Jack crevalle, pompano, ladyfish, & catfish. First time catching a Jack for me. Took me a while with him running circles around my kayak. Love fishing with a light action rod.

That’s a nice size Jack you got there. I’m on the same page with you about catching fish on a light rod. Back in December I caught a 17” sheepshead and a 26” Redfish on a light rod. The thrill of bringing a fish in on a light rod is exhilarating. Both of these fish were caught just north of Blackburn Point.

I imagine you have a great time catching those fish. And I bet that Jack is pretty fast judging body to tail size..My 2cents.

Fishing on the bottom in the channel with the shrimp floating about 2 ft. Below a sliding sinker

I mostly use live shrimp, and sometimes squid. There are occasions where I will try artificial lures. Things like soft plastic paddle tails, imitation shrimp and crabs. I recently picked up a Pinfish lure. I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet, but I’m hoping it works for Redfish and Snook.
