Got a little down time, boats in the shop for waterpump and servicing so gotta do something to kill some time.Be moving in about a month and will be getting a new bed.Them things aint cheap so I decided to absorb some of the cost.I had a couple one foot diameter cedar logs I hadn't found a use for yet and they're too nice for firewood so I pulled out the chainsaw mill and the Dewalt planer and got busy.I figure the money saved not buying a bedframe will allow me to upgrade to a better mattress set.Helps that I'm a carpenter and have good woodworking tools. I slabbed the logs I had for side rails and head and foot boards, still need to find some more logs for the corner posts, next pics will be a finished frame but heres two as build shots for now

WOW, NICE JOB! Looking forward to seeing the finished bed.
Pretty wood.

Sitting here watching ax men they cut some and show the grain from being underwater for years.

Beautiful wood there, Salmon!
Good luck. I made a captain’s bed for my grandson when he was 12. Cost about 600.00 at that time. He is 33 now and his kids still use it. Son-in-law said it was cheaper to buy one. I used cedar and they went by furniture store that had a bed similar to what I built
Pine over 1000.00
Now that is time well spent. Good work. I hope you post a picture of the finished bed.
