Does anyone have any particularly good (or bad) experience with any of the map cards for fishfinders? I am looking to add one for my Lowrance HDS Live and could use any suggestions/recommendations.

I have had great results with the Lakemaster brand, which I believe used to be a solo company but has been linked with Humminbird. I use them in both Garmin and Lowrance units. Just be sure that they are compatible with your finder. As technology changes, sometimes "old" vintage chips may not be readable in modern equipment.

I have 2 of them for my Garmin One for the coast from Virginia to J,ville Florida and one or J,ville to the Bahamas. Both are SD Cards for Coastal waters.

Lakemaster maps are great, but they no longer make chips compatible with anything but Humminbird. If you want to use a Lakemaster map you will have to find an older one and it may not work in a newer Lowrance unit.

I bought a Navatronics chip a few years ago for my Lowrance unit. It was maps of Canada & the great lakes. It worked great & was well spent money. 2 years ago I bought 2 new Humminbird Helix 10's & after reading the instruction book on the old Navatronics chip I called Navatronics about the chip working in my new units. I was heading for Ontario & needed those maps. Customer service said they would work & sure enough they did. I was happy as I'd just saved well over $100. I'm sold on Navatronics but other brands are probably as good.

I been using the navionics map cards for years, I run the St. Lawrence river, Canada trips, etc. I have two, one in a lowrance and one in a hummingbird, I love them, you can go to navionics.com and click on the chart plotter to look at certain lakes for depths. Shoals, etc. they are pricey but to me there worth it. Good luck and tight lines.
